Title: Route metric
Post by: jorgevisentini on May 03, 2017, 11:01:34 pm
Hello,

sorry about my English.

Can I define metrics for routes? As priorities, distance ...

I need something like this to do a failover on my IPsec network.

Thank you!

It would not make sense to configure an administrative distance when using plain OPNsense without the quagga plugin - the metric is the only thing that handles the decision except "longest prefix match". The administrative distance is used to say which routing protocol you trust most.

The quagga plugin does not support static routes as they are already managed by OPNsense core.

system_routes_edit.php does not look like it supports metrics.
You may be interested into a gateway group.

Relevant FreeBSD topic: https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/33006/

I always thought the metric support was rather rudimentary and not so helpful.

Cheers,

Guys, thanks for the feedback.

I understood ... is that I saw that in Fortinet has this functionality so I even thought I was not finding in OPNSense.
And I'm still looking for a way to do a failover with my IPsec hahaha.
It's complicated, I have not found any cases with either OPNSense or PFSense ...

Thank you guys!
