Title: 17.1.b DHCP Reseverations
Post by: Curly1 on January 02, 2017, 05:17:12 pm
In version 17.1.b when you attempt to reserve a IP address for a MAC address, under the Services\DHCP\Server screen - at the bottom, you get an error that the IP address cannot be in the DHCP range.

Actually, the IP address should be in the range and not be outside the range. (If we were doing just a static IP, we would not need to define it at all - it would be just be outside the DHCP range.)

So, Static DHCP does work in OPNsense, it just does not work as you normally would expect.
The range in the Services\DHCP\Server screen is the range for Dynamically assigned addresses. Outside that range is for Static DHCP addresses (reservations) and Static Configured clients.

It might be nice to note that in the GUI (maybe Help notes for the range setting) and a future wishlist item might be a exportable Report for DHCP Leases.  :)
