Title: igmp proxy - is it fixed?
Post by: mrhappydude on December 08, 2016, 10:27:42 pm
Sorry noob here.

I did see that in 16.7.9 release (https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=3970.0) that it was moved to plugins and not sure what that means, but can anyone confirm that it is working and they have a working iptv configuration on their firewall/router using this version.

Thanks.

Hi there,

The code was moved to a "pluggable" spot and the service start refactored. Tested this using a running service and could not find any regression. There are no reports regarding this either.

What all of this means eventually that IGMP will not be a standard installation item in 17.1, but continue to be available from the plugins in the long term. For 16.7 nothing changes. It was mentioned in the release notes to record the transition.

Thanks for asking, it's not a "noob" question at all. :)

Cheers,
Franco

Thanks for the quick response franco!  So did I understand correctly that it was tested and no issues were found or it hasn't been been looked at ??

I am pretty excited that I found opnsense since it seems to be actively worked on and the interface looks excellent.

It was tested on -devel for a few weeks prior to release inclusion, yes.

Thanks,
Franco
