Title: Interface Assigment Problem - ath0_wlan - kernel: ath0: stuck beacon; resetting
Post by: hirschferkel on December 07, 2016, 10:36:57 pm
Hi there,

i'm using a brand new OPNsense AMD APU2C4 with WLAN (10.05.16).
I tried to use two different Wifis and both will be assigned an interface with ath0_wlan1 or ath0_wlan2

What i realized now, when i set up a second WLAN the signal strength of this WLAN1 and WLAN2 may sometimes become very very week at the iPhone(?). AND: It will not be possible to connect to any other WLAN than that one assigned to ath0_wlan1.

After deleting all Wifis, rebooting, setting up the first Wifi again, it is o.k. the WLAn which is assigned to ath0_wlan1, with a very strong signal strength. But after a second one is beeing set up - even not activated! - the stength may do down BUT i always get an error message, that the password would be wrong on the iPhone, for the second WLAN. And it is not, and in the logs i can see:

WPA: EAPOL-Key timeout

i also got sometimes kernel: ath0: stuck beacon; resetting (bmiss count 4) system logs. But they disappeared after i deleted all Wifis and rebooted the router.

I tried a lot, resetted the network settings of the phone, changed channel of Wifi, name, password and many other things, but it doesn't work for more than one Wifi. All additional Wifis will never connect to the iPhone and often result in a significantly reduced signal strength immediately.

Does anybody have an idea, what can be done?
It's wired, because the first Wifi is always working like expected and i do not understand, why the same settings applied to a second WLAN causes failing of login and lowering of the signal strength of both Wifis at iPhones?

So when there is more than one WLAN interface set up on the router it will not allow the iphone to connect all later WLANs but the first one.

Any other device (OSX) has no problems to connect to all ath0_wlan2 and higher Wifis...

And after trying to change the 802.11 standard from b to na or ng the error message will be
Code: [Select]
7:08:34 kernel: ieee80211_new_state_locked: pending RUN -> SCAN transition lost
Dec 8 17:08:34 kernel: ath0_wlan1:

Dec 8 17:01:32 kernel: ath0: ath_reset_grablock: didn't finish after 10 iterations

and all Wifi signals are week again...
I would appreciate any help, best hirschferkel

FWIW, ath0 works a lot better on 17.1-BETA with the newer FreeBSD.
