Title: UEFI Boot broke after 16.7.2 update
Post by: Free_Norway on September 01, 2016, 10:22:28 am
Hi

Has anybody encountered the same problem.
I just update my working opnsense box from 16.7.1 LibreSSL to 16.7.2 OpenSSL and it broke the UEFI boot.
Now when in the boot there is the message:
Failed to load '/boot/loader.efi'
Panic: No bootable partition found!

Any ideas?

Hi,

Does this happen before the boot menu appears? If yes, it can't read the root partition at all. :(

I checked the update and /boot/loader.efi is in the set, impossible not to download and apply. If anything failed it would keep the old one intact, too.

Try to boot from the VGA memstick, import the config from the installer to see if it can actually open the old partition, exit again to see the system come up temporarily with all your settings. This will also run a fsck in the process, then try to boot from the hard disk again.

Cheers,
Franco

Hi Franco, thanks for the reply.

I tried the to boot from are USB stick, but my system has the USB error 19 behavior.
I did a new install with a SATA CD-rom connected, that worked.

Wright now I have my backup opnsense box running, so i will try the update once more tomorrow.
