Title: Combine LAN & OPT?
Post by: puddleglum on August 23, 2016, 08:09:49 pm
I have a pc engines apu which I just installed opnsense on. It's got 3 ports. I've configured one for WAN which i'm using pppoe on, one for LAN doling out dhcp for my wired devices. How can I combine the remaining port with the LAN port? The APU sits next to a wireless access point and I would like to run the opt port to the wireless access point to have my wired and wireless devices all on the same subnet. Running a cable from the switch which is connected to the LAN port all the way back to the wireless access point isn't feasible.

You could bridge LAN and Opt1.

Yes, I'm just not quite certain how to configure that.
Assign LAN & OPT IP addresses; create bridge of combined two; set dhcp server to use bridge instead of lan?

No, you bridge ports. I would have too look into how it's done again.
Been too long to remember...

But it's probably under Interfaces.

The bridge is created under Interfaces: Other Devices: Bridges. Add both interfaces and apply. Note that this creates a "rule-free" zone for traffic between the bridged devices.
