Title: APU1 installer issues
Post by: penzoiders on August 04, 2016, 05:33:03 pm
Hi everybody,

I'm trying to install OPNsense-16.7-OpenSSL-serial-amd64 on the mSATA drive of a APU1D4 from PCEngines http://pcengines.ch/apu1d4.htm,

flashed the usb key for installing it, booted with no issues, as I go through the installer I see no issues, it reaches the
Code: [Select]
/usr/local/bin/cpdup -vvv -I -o /boot /mnt/boot
and it gets stuck at 8%
then throws these error

Code: [Select]
Execution of the command
 /usr/local/bin/cpdup -vvv -I -o /boot /mnt/boot
was cancelled.

here's the log

Code: [Select]

I've already tried the boot with the "known to work on pfsense" options

am I supposed to flash the nano image directly on mSATA drive?
I'll prefer a full install if possible since the hardware is capable of handling it (at least on paper).

thanks in advance for your help.

Hi penzoiders,

First time I've seen it break so early during install... Is this new hardware or did something work on it before?

What I can think of at first sight:

(a) Image or usb key was bad, or
(b) disk may not work if new.

Both of these theories can be revoked. Would be interesting to know what error 15 is. There's nothing else in the log.

Cheers,
Franco

the usb key is ok (tried 2 different), images md5 are ok, I try to put a new mSATA  drive (if I find a spare one... probably that's broken... but it used to work with a debian on it, SSD fail silently some times).

will keep you posted .

thanks

I did several installs to the apu1.
First is your bios up to date?
I use all the time a external pc to load the images.
You can "dd" the embedded image either to the flash card or if you have an adapter to the msata.

so you suggest to flash the nano image directly on mSATA.
I'll try that. thanks.

I don't have another mSATA to try so I'll snap that on different platfrom and flash the nano image onit.
