Title: Virtualised OpnSense with PCI Passthrough vs NIC Passthrough

Hi dear Forum users,
I’m in the middle of setting up a virtualised OPNSense system in a VM of TrueNAS Scale.
The issue I am facing is, that due to not matching IOMMU groups I cannot passthrough my 4x Gbit Intel nic directly. But I found a setting, which lets me add a NIC as a device to the VM. Therefore I was able to successfully give OPNSense access to those 4 Gbit ports.

Now my question is: is this a valid option or too good to be true? Should I instead opt for messing around with ACS in order to get my NIC in its own IOMMU Group or is the above mentioned setup sufficient for OPNSense to function?

It is not a problem win itself to do it that way. Not all devices can be passed through or have SRIOV. Hypervisor and device dependent. Please try it and report back.
