Title: [SOLVED] NTP HyperV
Post by: peppermint on May 28, 2016, 11:57:50 am
Hello,
NTP doesn't work in hyperV. I tried all the opnsense/pfsense forum solutions (disable hyperV timesync, disable extensions in the ntp settings etc.).
Opnsense crashes completly, when enabling/disabling hpyerV timesync.
I had no NTP problems with the last pfsense 2.2x.

My VM, Hyper-V 2012 R2, is running the HardenedBSD Exp 11 version and has run previous builds too, and time sync works fine for me.

I have disabled the NTP client in OPNsense by setting no value for the NTP server, and enabled the Time Synchronization Integration Service for the VM.

I don't understand this report. NTP doesn't work, what has this to do with timesync? What crashes when exactly? NTP crashes OPNsense? Timesync crashes the kernel? More info please, especially crash dumps or NTP logs. :)

But I agree with weust here, disable NTP on OPNsense and let timesync do the rest.

After disabling timesync in the HyperV properties, Opnsense crashes and I had to reboot the virtual Opnsense (maybe an Freebss error with the HyperV tools).

I made a LAN rule, which enables the the NTP port to Opnsense and now it worked!!
All windows and other clients syncing time.
Thank you.
