Title: Weird website categorizations
Post by: cac04 on September 16, 2022, 03:35:57 pm
Today I had both mail.google.com and www.jetbrains.com blocked as "Web Category" "Advertisements".

That's pretty bad. How are these categories decided? I didn't expect to have to whitelist Gmail...

Hi,

Actually both sites' category seems as expected. mail.google.com as Webmails and  www.jetbrains.com as Technology and computer. Can you clear the cloud cache (Configuration - Cloud Threat Intel - Clear Cache) then try again?

It seems to work at the moment, after clearing the cache as you suggested. But why was mail.google.com ever blocked as "Advertisements"?

Hi,

I couldn't reproduce it. If it occurs again, can you share a bug report?

Sure, what should the bug report contain?

Here's a screenshot of another bizarre categorization that just happened (attached).

It happened again. mail.google.com was categorized as "Web Category: Advertisements". Again, clearing the cache fixed the problem... but why did it happen at all? Screenshot attached.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing. We looked into the issue and the problem is the DNS services that are using the same IP for many domains like Cloudflare. Zenarmor caches the DNS info and answers from the cache in a short period. The team is working on this issue and the fix will be shipped with the upcoming release.
