Title: Web Proxy - Feature Request
Post by: matmik on August 15, 2022, 11:21:40 am
Hello.
First, I just want to say: thank you, to Deciso and all the developers involved in the development of the truly amazing software that is OPNsense.
You are doing an incredible job, providing a fully open source and safe software for such a critical role (firewalling/routing).

Now to the feature request:
Would it be possible to add a "Custom Parameters" field to the "Web Proxy" (Squid) package UI?

I added a "squid.conf.local" file (with the required parameters) inside the squid folder (through ssh), but the file is ignored by squid (the parameters don't show as set in squid logs).
I tested the same parameters, modifying the "squid.conf", and they are recognized (appear in the squid logs). The problem with this approach is that the custom parameters are erased every time I make a modification in "Web Proxy" UI. That's why I'm making this feature request.

Ultimately, if it's impossible to add the "Custom Parameters" field in the "Web Proxy" UI, would it be possible to activate the "squid.conf.local" file, to mitigate this issue?

I would also like to note that I'm not very familiar with BSD, so I would like to apologize, if this suggestion is unrealistic/stupid.
I also read the "Web Proxy" docs (on docs.opnsense.org), but I didn't see a reference to my issue.

Thank you.
