Hi all,
I have a multiwan setup with DNS servers setup in every wan, in system->settings->general and unbound as local resolver for my networks.
After reboot, DNS is not working correctly and services like ddclient do not work also. I have to manually reboot unbound to have everything working.
Another thing is that, clients with web proxy enabled, do not load pages. I had to insert 127.0.0.1, in "use alternative dns servers" option in order for clients to load pages correctly.
These problems started after upgrading to 22.1.5

I think this is related to https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=27861.0.
If you restart the unbound manually it loads its legacy config.
21.1.5 brought a new UI for unbound. I found that at least overwrites were not migrated correctly.
Have you checked the config of unbound?
btw. if you click apply in the UI it loads the config the new way and you should see the issues again.

Hello all,
i have updated to 22.1.6, but still my startup problem persists. Upon reboot, eventhough every WAN (from the multiwan setup) has a DNS configured, services ddclient do not resolve. I manually press "save" again in "system-settings-general" or restart unbound for them to work.
Unbound service though starts correctly upon reboot.
Also DNS resolving in clients that go through proxy is very slow (before 22.1.5 there was no problem) if i leave the box " Use alternate DNS-servers " empty. Only by adding "127.0.0.1" , resolving works correctly.
I don't know where to look for the issue.

on my side - UNBOUND is not working anymore since 22.1.2 or since UNBOUND version: unbound 1.15.0
Yesterday, i gave it a try again - and upgraded to 22.1.6.
I've got a lot of UNBOUND "overrides" in place & BlockLists.
I did disable the BlockLists - but this didn't help.
DNS is not working anymore - it seems that the DNS Resolver will switch from offline to online & vice versa in a very short time - so sometimes a can connect to the WEB (but resolution is very, very slow).
..getting a WAN DHCP ip & and then it disappears again.
The whole machine gets very hot, CPU & unbound is about 100% - restart UNBOUND does not fix this issue.
I'm using OPNSense since year and i had never such big troubles.
Fortunately i'm using ZFS, so Restore is quick & easy - but full RESTORE was needed in every upgrade after version: 22.1.1 (with UNBOUND 1.15.0).
I tried the upgrades also with different hardware - same result - no chance to get UNBOUND working again - and DNS - of course is fundamental.
