Title: ProtectLi FW6B/1G ATT Fiber: Will it work?
Post by: lrosenman on November 07, 2021, 11:55:56 pm
I have a Protectli FW6B (I3-7100U/8G memory, 250G SSD) running the latest OPNSense.  Will Zenarmor work at a full gigabit line rate with this box?  The nic's are em driver.

Any gotchas?

I do have another server I can offload the Elasticsearch to.

Hi Ironson,

For a Gbit connection, You need an i5 or higher CPU. Please refer to the following document:

https://www.sunnyvalley.io/docs/introduction/hardware-requirements

But if you separate the reporting as Remote Elastic, your config can handle it.

I've set it up as remote elastic, but the dashboard is whining about no elastic service. :(

Ok, after getting my license (home), it seems to be doing fine (I think my issue was related to the dhcp6c crash I just reported in the 21.7 forum.

Now that dhcp6c has been stable for a few hours, and remote elastic search is working well, I'm impressed.

with my Bacula full backup running, I still get very decent speeds (without Zenarmor it's 940/940)

Now to start turning on some of the policy stuff.
