Title: ULA
Post by: meschmesch on August 23, 2021, 09:23:45 pm
Hello,
Could anyone please provide me a short description of how to get an ULA on the LAN interface?

Virtual IP - > other doesn't do anything...

Thank you very much!

Virtual IP > IP Alias

Put a valid ULA address with a /64 netmask

Virtual IP - > Alias - > single address fc00:: with 64,anything else empty. It further took a reboot to active.

Thank you.

Will the addresses the client's now assigned and starting with fc00... be static? And accessible throughout the entire Lan?

Don’t use fc.., only use fd..

fc.. is technically reserved

ULAs can be configured on clients in the same way as any other IPv6 address - SLAAC, DHCPv6. DHCPv6 is obviously static, SLAAC in practice is if temporary addresses are not used (technically temporary addresses shouldn’t be used for ULAs anyway, only GUAs, but some OSes don’t strictly apply the RFC)

OK got it. I manually set on local machines the IPv6 address to fd00::1:100 etc. Great, it works. Thank you!
