Title: Qotom box - Installing Opnsense
Post by: Solid-Profession on May 10, 2021, 12:17:19 am
Hi

I've just got my Qotom box now, but I'm not sure how you install opnsense on here? Also, do I have to mess around with jumpers?

Thanks

boot usb stick and install

Don't I need to do anything with the jumper? Or also with the thermal paste and heatsink?

the jumper is so that it reboots after powerloss, that have nothing to do with installing

i havent done anything with "thermal paste and heatsink", works fine anyway

Thanks! I've had a look on YouTube how to do that, and that seems to have helped me with that bit

I might get a USB Noctua fan, to put on the outside to help cool it down too

boot usb stick and install

I've run a Qotom i7 box for the past 2 years with factory paste no issues at all.

sure you could put a usb fan, easy job to try
but unless it´s hot where it sits or wery heavy loads it shouldent be needed with a fan

I have one of these boxes too. Keep in mind that the physical order of network ports is different than in the software, the ports are numbered 0 2 3 1 IIRC.
