Title: APC UPS (NUT) config problem
Post by: Joc on May 04, 2021, 08:58:35 am
Hi,

I have a APC Smart UPS 1400i. An Aten serial-usb converter is connected to this. It is connected directly to the Opnsense machine. The converter becomes visible in the log: /dev/cuaU0

I installed NUT. For the UPS type, I chose the APCSMART driver. For Extra Arguments, the auto setting doesn't work for me, so I rewrote this: port=/dev/cuaU0

Unfortunately, that doesn't work either. :( What am I spoiling?

Comment: With both settings, the web gui is unavailable for a long time. It will recover over time.

I found this...:

Can't uu_lock cuaU0: link error: Operation not permitted
Driver failed to start (exit status=1)
/usr/local/etc/rc.d/nut: WARNING: failed precmd routine for nut

ugen0.2: <Prolific Technology Inc. USB-Serial Controller D> at usbus0, cfg=0 md=HOST spd=FULL (12Mbps) pwr=ON (100mA)

crw-rw----  1 uucp  dialer  0x71 May  5 19:36 cuaU0

How can I fix the problem correctly?

May be a lack of permissions?

That's what I'm guessing. Is it worth reporting this as a bug?
