Title: Number of Policies
Post by: JasonJoel on April 24, 2021, 02:09:33 am
What is the rational for only letting Home users have 2 configurable profiles? Seems like an odd limitation, that very much limits how I can use the product.

I don't want/need 100 policies, but something like 5 sure would go a long way towards being able to limit things the way I want to... I really need 2 different kid profiles, a guest profile, an adult profile, and the default.

Anyway, consider it a feature request / wish list item.

I don't think it can be done

Sure it can - just not with the current license restrictions. The limit of 3 policies on the "Home" license was just something they picked - not a technical limitation.

I'm just asking that they consider increasing this to something higher, like 5.

EDIT: And since the scope/applicability on the default policy can't be changed, there are really only TWO policies that can be fully customized, which kind of stinks.

Yeah I'm with OP here.

Current policy limitations seems like a business decision from Sunny Valley more than anything else.

At least Default + 3 on Home Edition would be fair since SoHo has Default + 4.

As I literally can't filter/control everything the way I need to, this issue will likely be the one that makes me not renew once my year is up.

It's a cool service, but probably isn't going to meet my (or many other home users in this 'enthusiast' category) needs without a few tweaks. So hopefully that happens. Otherwise I'll vote with my wallet and happily move on to something else.

And with no hard feelings, obviously. No product can be everything to everyone, so if it isn't in their business model to give more policies - I can respect that.

I am with OP here. Two policies can't satisfy the needs of a home user. I need a policy for my kids during home-school time (only zoom, etc.), one for the evening, one for sleep time (Audible), one for guest, one for normal users. I understand that Sensei makes money with business and not with us home enthusiasts. But for me, the home license is not worth my money with this limitation. I hope Sunny Valley reconsiders this before my subscription expires.
