Title: Interfaces Not Recognized on ASRock Tiger Lake NUC
Post by: nukke on April 13, 2021, 09:49:19 pm
I recently purchased an ASRock NUC with two NICs to use as an OPNsense firewall. However I can't seem to get OPNsense to recognize either. I've tested both interfaces, connecting each to my modem and to a LAN switch. I see the link lights light up but nothing show up in OPNsense.

The hardware is an ASRock NUC BOX-1115G4 with an Intel Core i5-1115G4 (Tiger Lake U), and it has 2 ethernet ports: Intel I219V (rev. 20) and a 2.5Gbps Intel I225-LM (rev. 3). Manual here: https://download.asrock.com/IPC/Manual/NUC%20BOX-1115G4.pdf

Both interfaces work under Linux without issues and I have verified both interfaces are enabled in the BIOS (running the latest version).

I've attached the output of
Code: [Select]
pciconf -l and
Code: [Select]
pciconf -lecvV.

This isn't exactly the same system but, similar chipsets. It looks like many of the newer revisions of these ethernet chips associated with the 10th and 11th gen Intel CPUs aren't fully supported on FreeBSD 12.x, unfortunately.

Indeed, it took me a while to find the ID but I checked the compatibility website and it seems like it is not yet supported.

I ended up returning the NUC and getting a separate device.
