Title: Use aliases in Shaper rules
Post by: Maarten on June 12, 2020, 11:40:59 am
Hi,

I'm checking out the latest production version of OPNsense, and I notice I still can't use aliases. This would greatly enhance the usage of the shaper configuration. Setting up a shaper configuration for a slightly more advanced network is a pain a.t.m.

Is there any plan on implementing this feature?

Best regards,

Maarten

I want to add my vote to this effort.
I'm fairly new to OPNsense and have a need to keep my traffic shaped for video streaming, VoIP calls, and uploads to backups.
Zoom alone has almost 100 IP addresses that I have to enter into 2 rules because I can't use aliases.  Then there's Webex, MS Teams, and my VoIP work phone.
The reason for setting up a dedicated computer to handle this was my primary reason for using OPNsense.  Maybe there is an easy way to do this I'm missing.
Thanks for all the effort on a great network system/tool.
Mike

Like to "vote" for that feature too. I'm using shaper for handing VoIP, IPTV and other important stuff and it would be great to use Aliases as I've already created this for the FW Rules.
At the moment I've to do this all the time on both ... aliases for FW and NAT Rules and for the shaper.

Woult be great! :D

This is such an important feature, 21.1 is out, I hope it's in there somewhere.
