Title: HA Sync Issue
Post by: swilliams_u2c on May 23, 2020, 09:01:30 pm
Hello all,

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere at sometime, but exhaustive searching has not led me to my answer.  We have multiple CARP interfaces on our HA OpnSense applicances.  HA works fine individually, however; we need all of the interfaces to failover if one of them needs to.  If for example WAN fails over to the backup and LAN stays on primary then our Virtual Desktops are no longer accessible.  I do not see a clear way to get them to all failover at the same time.  There has to be a way to make each interface dependandt on the next.  The objective is if one interface goes down, I need all of the interfaces to failover, not just the one.

It should be noted, if the appliance itself goes down, or I use CARP maint mode; it works as expected.

I am also looking for this feature/config.

This only happens if you have "Disable Preemption" ticked on both or one of them, which would lead to this behaviour

Just to clarify "this behaviour"

If you want the behaviour where the unit (all interfaces) fall over when one interface fail, as asked for by the OP, should you have the option "Disable Preemption" ticked or unticked?

Unticked on both, then reboot
