Title: Captive Portal - bug in 'allowed ip addresses"?
Post by: timvanlooy on November 19, 2015, 12:04:10 pm
Hi
as I'm considering using opnsense on our firewalls (+30 schoolnetworks), I'm currently installing one of our firewalls and trying to enable and test all features we use on pfsense.

Everything seem to work fine, except for the Captive Portal: our portal page (and database) is located on an external server (https://wifi.antigon.be:8080/antigon.php), but I'm not able to access this site, although I've entered the ip (81.82.199.229) into the 'allowed ip addresses"-page.

Also, is there a way to enter hostname-exceptions, like there is in pfsense?

I look forward to your responses - thank you

Tim

Hi Tim,

It might be worth testing our development version for captive portal, which will be released in January.
We did a total rewrite of this component, because of various issues. Everything that's in there should function now.
Whitelisting on hostname is not in the new version, because at the firewall level you don't know the address the packet is planning to go to.
