Title: APU 4C4 Bios
Post by: thebigwave on February 18, 2020, 10:45:14 am
Hello Everyone,
I've got a short question about the Bios on my PCengine APU 4C4. At the moment my OPNsense runs on v.4.0.24.
I Discovered there are 2 different Bios trees published by pcengines.
a Mainline Release and a Legacy release. It looks that my Version is a Legacy Version.
Should I stay in this tree and only update to the newest legacy Version ->v.4.0.29 or is it possible to change to the Mainline Version ->v.4.11.03
It would be great if anyone has some experience to share
regards
Tobi

This is how PC Engines/3mdeb motivate the use of the mainline branch.

Most of the new features are firstly introduced here in mainline.
Mainline version is more actively developed and maintained than legacy.
Mainline releases have extended validation comparing to legacy due to legacy limitations related to old toolchain and codebase.
Mainline releases are built with newest toolchains.

Update:
the jump from Lagacy to Mainline works pretty well.
I just followed those steps and it works like charm
