Is started by Michael: :-*
http://e2guardian.org/cms/index.php Same features as squidquard which is often requested but active developed. I'd build a plugin around it.

--EDIT-- Noticed that the last update on the website is in 2013. I think this package is dead.

Last update 10 days ago ...

Sorry, I was looking at the main website. Didn't think to look at github.
Next question: how would I go about loading this into OPNSense? Doesn't look like it's in the package list.

The answer is easy - it does not exist yet, so it does not show up.

It does exist
https://pkg.opnsense.org/FreeBSD:11:amd64/19.7/MINT/19.7.8/OpenSSL/All/
I requested it some months ago

Sleeping .. I have some others on the list like Icinga and Fetchmail.
Maybe also ufdbguard .. I need some commercial stuff for business reasons.
Currently there is no real good category list for OPNsense ...

I am currently still stuck on pfSense, although would love to switch to OPNSense, due to this plugin not being available. The package appears to be in the link provided higher up, but I think the problem is that there's no GUI for OPNSense.
I am already using E2 Guardian on pfSense for a few years, and it's been flawless, using this unofficial repo which also includes a GUI for managing the plugin: https://github.com/marcelloc/Unofficial-pfSense-packages/tree/master/pkg-e2guardian5
This basically allows for a more "dynamic" based web filter, where the proxy can actually look at phrases on a page and decide if it's good or bad, rather than just having a blacklist.

If you send me your configuration I can build a plugin. Just finished chrony, so, I have time 8)

Thanks, there's a lot of config files though. Any possibility of making a GUI for E2G?
Which specific configs do you need? I'm using phrase filtering, adding in headers for Youtube safesearch for kids and doing some regex here and there too - to force safesearch on search engines.
-
I'm interested in every File you touched, but also examples for group based Filters

I believe e2guardian will be a great addition to OPNsense. I'm also waiting for this to be included in the plugins list.
-
Hi
Agreed with @ciobu23
E2guardian is the best opensource web Filtering solution and it will be a great addition to OPNsense .
Waiting for this to be included in plugin so that we can move to OPNsense from Pfsense.
Using this from many years and it's been flawless.

Can you post all relevant config and changed places?
e2guardian has way too many files to edit .. quite hard to build a plugin with all options and relations.
-
Did this progress?
I keep coming across e2guardian and pretty much everyone says it's the bee's knees.
Thanks,
Jon

Question to the dev team: Are there any plans regarding integration of e2guardian or a similiar content filter?
-
@Mod: Would it be more suitable to create a feature request on github instead of hoping for an answer from the dev team in this forum?
-
As far as plugins are concerned it's free for all, which means there is no dev to take it up.
Cheers,
Franco

I never got e2g running in a stable way via CLI
