Title: NUT UPS monitoring is unreliable
Post by: Rezoyen on November 05, 2019, 10:37:36 pm
I've been trying to get NUT to monitor my Tripplite UPS that is USB connected. It never was very stable on either of my PFSense boxes, using 2.4.4 of PFSense.
I can get it to poll and retrieve information, but then minutes or hours later its "Failed to retrieve data from UPS", and I need to SSH in, go to shell, su, run uspsd -c stop, then run upsd, then it works again for a few minutes or maybe even an hour.

Any idea why it just stops after some time?

nut itself is badly maintained. Do you see something in system.log?

Not specific to your situation but we have constant issues with SNMP stopping to work on TrippLite UPSs randomly and recovering randomly on its own. We have tested this out with multiple monitoring tools. After over a year with these issues, TrippLite finally acknowledged they have a reliability issue they are investigating.
