Title: 19.7.4 - tinc failed with error - Failed to generate meta key error 24064064

After upgrading to 19.7.4 from 19.1, previously working tinc connections all stopped working with error "Failed to generate meta key (error: 24064064:lib(36)func(100):reason(100))"

Please advise on possible error/fix.

For now:

# opnsense-revert -r 19.7.3 tinc

I'm not sure if a new tinc release will be out to resolve this or of we have to adjust the plugin to the new reality. Look out for release notes on the subject.

As alternative workaround, if you want to stay at 19.7.4, you could remove the -R (chroot option, I know this is not gladly seen in a BSD world).

I just read this. I opened an issue some time before: https://github.com/opnsense/plugins/issues/1500

I'm still researching about the cause of this.

You can follow any progress in the GitHub issue page. In the mean time, it’s pretty trivial to work around the problem: install tinc from the official FreeBSD package repository.

As you  can read in the GitHub issue page ( https://github.com/opnsense/plugins/issues/1500#issuecomment-584241501 (https://github.com/opnsense/plugins/issues/1500#issuecomment-584241501)), the tinc package built for the new 20.x branch is working. The issue has been closed.

Unfortunately we never got to the root cause... may have been a bad library update that caused this in the Tinc software.
