From this post https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=9678 (https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=9678), titled "16.1 and 16.7 update sets have been removed", I think you cannot upgrade a 16.7 system via the internal upgrade mechanisms.

As for the hanging during cpdup, my own anecdote:  zero out the beginning and end of the disk (to wipe out any GPT stuff) and partition as MBR.  That worked for my appliance, but may have nothing to do with your situation.

My only other thought is to maybe try a fresh 19.1, 18.7, or 18.1 install.  If you can get one of those working, then upgrade to 19.7 from that.

wow 16.7?

it should be quicker to setup from scratch
and most likely be safer

I can't see which hardware you're using. Repositories not updating would point to a connectivity issue.

17.1 and 17.7 will follow moving to the eternal trash bin soon enough. ;)

Cheers,

With regards to the stuck systems, I experienced a very long install time on 19.7 that I thought was hung. I left it overnight, and it installed successfully.

Hi.
Thanks for the tips.
I discovered that I was incredibly wrong with 3 different USB drives.
Everything worked ok with installation from the ground up with USB stick no.4.
Thanks again but the error was mine but I have never been involved with such a bug on USB.I got no error message when I installed img on USB but the firewall couldn't read them, it just locked.
 :) ;)
