Title: HA/CARP and Port Forward - Bug?
Post by: mrevjd on August 26, 2019, 04:57:10 am
Hi Guys,

Hoping for some advice and possibly report a bug.

I have have setup 2 identical hardware devices with the same version of Opnsense. I then setup up HA/CARP on 2 of the internal interfaces and a separate sync interface. I followed the instruction as per https://wiki.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/carp.html (https://wiki.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/carp.html)
Everything sync and works correctly.

However if I setup an inbound port forward to an internal server the port forward doesn't work. If I remove HA/CARP the port forward work perfectly.

I then repeated the same setup on the same hardware using pfsense and this work perfectly.

Cheers
Evan

Hi mimugmail,

Thanks for the response. I will try and spin up the test system again on the next few days but a bit swamped at the moment.

Cheers

We have moved across to pfsense as we spent hours trying to resolve this and we were on a time critical timeline. Pfsense worked out of the box just as an FYI.

If I get a chance to spin up the OPNsense setup again I will post screenshots.

Cheers

I'm quite sure it was just a little thing you've overseen, but pfSense is also perfectly fine if it fits your needs  8)
