Title: Am I missing something?
Post by: lrosenman on July 04, 2019, 01:53:48 am
What am I missing here on the dev branch?

A release announcement for 19.7-RC1.

We use the devel version for staging upcoming changes and testing release files so the only thing missing here is time. :)

You can run it, but you need to switch to the development branch. You can then do  an opnsense-code core update etc.

In fact it's now showing r4.

Oops my mistake, not rc but r.

I did explain this in my initial reply. This is the intended behaviour.

"Why?" is entirely as fair as "why not?" in this case even without the explanation. ;)

Once rc1 hits I just need to switch to development in the firmware settings, hit save, then do a search to upgrade to it right?

Answered my own question.

19.7.r1 upgrade links are up now and the release announcement follows in an hour or two.

@donatom3 for completeness:

* Switch to devel
* Check for updates + upgrade (blue box)
(no reboot)
* Check for updates again
* Unlock 19.7.r1 + upgrade (yellow box)
(a few reboots later)
* Switch to release
* Check for updates + upgrade (blue box)

This sequence is relatively cumbersome, but that is part of the point to not have to many people upgrade directly from 19.1.10 for the moment and to verify each step before it is released to the stable version.

Cheers,
Franco

Are you on 19.7r_1 or 19.7r1. If your'e on r_1 you need to do the last step that Franco said in the message to me.
Switch back to production which you did. Check for updates and even though it has the unlock update option you want to click on update now in the blue box. After that you should be fine. I was in the same boat as you this morning.
