Hi all
I have my internet server from the French ISP free and I have IPv6 available to me, I have just been testing it with the current 15.7.10 OPNsense (thanks fo the update).
I've tried several of the comments in the forums for setting this up but I only seem to get the IP address on the WAN, the LAN is set to "track" but doesn't seem to get an IPv6 IP address.
First question. In the setting for the "IPv6 Prefix ID" you have the following comment:
Enter a hexadecimal value between 0 and 0 here, default value is 0.
That doesn't make sense to me, is that statement wrong?
A disable/enable of the WAN interface shows this error in my splunk log server:
Aug 25 18:24:50 opnsense: /usr/local/etc/rc.filter_configure_sync: Could not find IPv6 gateway for interface(wan).
From a terminal connected t the LAN interface I can ping6 ipv6.google.com and get a response, if I can do that ping does that error matter?
[edit]I've just noticed this entry in my log from an earlier test today:
Aug 25 16:41:56 radvd[60640]: can't join ipv6-allrouters on vmx1
That was probably when I rebooted OPNsense after the update. :)
This instance of OPNsense is a virtual machine running on ESXi6 and has the vmware tools installed and I'm using vmxnet3 driver for the three NICs in the VM.

Does this appear to be a bug or do you need any more info from me?

Bill, first things first: are you loading vmxnet manually via loader.conf? are you using the vanilla open-vm-tools-nox11 package or os-vmware?

I installed tha packages recently and this is the installed version:
open-vm-tools-nox11-1280544_12
There also seems to be this wrapper installed:
os-vmware-1.1

Ok, in the case of vmxnet the kernel module is not loaded before interface configure so the initial WAN connection will fail. Still working this part out.
More on the other things tomorrow.

Thanks for the quick update. :) As I said, this is only a testing scenario and it's not really a priority for me so I'll look forward to your update.

I too have problems with getting IPv6 working. I've tried every option I could think of as well. But I'm waiting for 10.2 to be released, which I hope will include the newer set of igb intel drivers. *prays for new snapshot*

the "0 to 0" may be ok, depending on how the value is set up. It's a bit complicated. Need to compile a list of possible targets.
Do you have a IPv6 gateway configured or is it announced via IPv6 / DHCPv6? The message points to the latter.

It's probably just my lack of experience with IPv6.

I believe it's supplied DHCPv6. I guess I'm going to have to do a bit more studying on this topic.
