Title: Parental control: easy temporary override?
Post by: GiantJack on May 11, 2019, 02:03:49 pm
Hi!
I'm new to opnsense...in fact, I currently don't have it, but I consider to introduce an opnsense device between my ISP modem and my LAN.
I currently check if opnsense covers all my need.
One is parental control.
Basically I want Web filtering and schedule (filtered web access during day, no access at night)... This should be fine, I have seen several explanations to setup this on opnsense.

But I have an other need : sometime I have to extend Internet access to later hours (let's say if Internet is needed for homework a little later than usual schedule).
Sometime it's needed to cut off internet access during day.(hehe best way to make sure a teenager comes when you call is to cut internet :-D).

So, here is the question : is there a way to easily toggle some rules?  Like a push button internet [on/off] for "daughter phone" of "son pc" etc ?

May if a script  or even better an http request can do that, I should be able to handle an HMI (I play a lot with nodered recently)

You can toggle existing rules on and off

Do you mean from opnsense gui ?
I assume yes, but I would prefer something easy to trig from a smartphone for example.
I mean that even my wife could control.

There's no finished solution for this. Would need some Scripting and alias API queries.
