Title: port forward to a separate reverse proxy not working? Arrh :(
Post by: mannp on March 30, 2019, 09:28:34 pm
Hi there

Slowly getting to grips with opnsense, loving it.

That said one thing is driving me nuts.

I have a port forward setup to forward eternal http to an internal ip and port 8888, while https goes to 4444 reverse proxy.

The ports are open but the proxy is not being reached and so nextcloud and others don't work.

the same forward on my old asus router and everything works.

Is there an additional step i need for opnsense please?

It seems the redirect is working fine externally, but not internally from my network.

NAT reflection was selected when creating the port forwards but the reflection does not work.

More research....

What's your WAN connection type? If opnsense isn't "aware" (ie directly responsible) for your WAN as in the case of PPPoE for example, and you are running another router in front of it (ie your ISP's modem), opnsense sees a packet for the external IP, figures it's not mine, and pushes it "upstream" (to your ISP's modem) that is too dumb to do the actual reflection back (sends the packet to your ISP, your ISP can't figure out how to do routing from the source to the destination etc.etc.).
