Title: 15.7.6: transparent proxy, package mirror/flavour selection, ...
Post by: franco on August 03, 2015, 10:31:04 am
Hi all,

DISCLAIMER: Helping to test the development version may cause OPNsense to get better faster. :)

We are going to add bleeding edge features to the development version whenever we're not sure it's working 100% yet and look for any type of feedback so that once it is merged to the stable version, it really is working as intended. Here's what we have in 15.7.6:

o Transparent proxy setting can be found under "Services: Proxy server: Forward Proxy". Please follow the (hidden) help text to create the required firewall hook.

o The package mirror and OpenSSL/LibreSSL flavour can be selected at "System: General Settings". If you have OpenSSL but want to try LibreSSL, change the setting and do a firmware upgrade. Reboot is advised, but not mandatory while upgrading.

o More languages have been added in their current (incomplete) state: French, Spanish, Japanese. They will remain there until reaching 30% completed.

o Reworked the LDAP user import. If the import wasn't working for you previously this is a good opportunity to try again.

Here's how to switch to development and back: https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=917.0

Cheers,
Franco

Great work. I'll look into this in a bit more detail as I get time. I'm hoping to create an OPNSense build that acts simply as a Tor transparent proxy.

There was somebody who asked for tor and polipo (proxy) packages which are available on the mirror (via pkg), who also said squid might work too. That would be really funky indeed.
