Title: [SOLVED] DynDNS: Setting Custom results in Hostname contains invalid characters
Post by: weust on February 28, 2015, 11:28:10 am
I am running 1.15.6.1-LibreSSL and setting up a Custom Service type for Duck DNS.
Only the Update URL, Result Match and Description fields are used, but when I Save it shows an error.

The following input errors were detected:
•The Hostname contains invalid characters.

What Hostname?

The field labeled "Hostname" apparently has invalid characters. Can you share the input? Also privately on IRC. It seems there is some magic involved for unconventional setups.

Hi!

Had the same problem recently with pfsense. The DNS provider says, I should use

update.spdns.de/nic/update?hostname=<domain>&myip=<ipaddr>

but the only way to make it work is

www.spdns.de/nic/update?hostname=....

See the difference? ;-)

Did you take the pfSense-specific update-code from the duck DNS install page? Then I'm out...

I did. And that was working in pfSense just fine.

franco is on it right now. We're discussing it on IRC atm.

Fix will be part of 15.1.7.1 or 15.1.8, whichever comes out first. ;)
