Title: This Mini PC for OPN Sense ?
Post by: davespeed on February 19, 2019, 10:14:31 pm
Hi Guys,

i think about setting up an OPNsense Box for my home to play with. Since some time i think about which hardware.
Now i found this box, it has 2 intel NICs, a powerfull CPU with AES-NI etc.
Are there better options from price/performance perspective ?
Any concerns about that hardware ?

What im NOT interested in, are small mini PCs from china where you never get bios updates / security fixes from manufacturer.

Here is a german spec sheet, but the hardware part should be readable :-)
https://gzhls.at/blob/ldb/c/9/d/7/60a34cdc5615eda7ffc41c9cd63e84c5175c.pdf
Its available for 300 to 350€ incl. tax in germany.

Any thoughts ?

This is the BSD review of Cubi 3 Silent S: https://bsd-hardware.info/?probe=1cffc69c5d

You can see that all network and storage devices are supported by FreeBSD. Bluetooth device is not, but this should not be a problem for a router.
