Title: Pool Specific DHCP Static Mappings & Single Client Pool Overrides
Post by: tuaris on January 04, 2019, 07:14:56 am
I've always found the need to override a specific client by MAC address without wanting to give it a static IP outside the pool.  I used to be able to do this with Microsoft's DHCP server (a very long time ago).  If I attempt to do this in OPNsense/M0n0wall I get the error "The IP address must not be within the DHCP range for this interface.".

Would it be possible to allow this ability?

Secondly, I discovered the "Additional Pools" feature and initially thought this was a way to give specific options to a group of clients instead of having to set them one by on in the static mappings.   Yet again, if try to do that I'm presented with the nasty error "The DHCP range cannot overlap any static DHCP mappings."  This ability has a use case where lets say I have a group of specific clients (identified by MAC address) should get a specific setup from the DHCP server.

Would it be possible to (either) allow this ability or allow the ability to define static mappings within an additional DHCP pool?
