Title: Misc settings in OPNsense 18.7.9
Post by: dreamerman on December 31, 2018, 11:18:54 am
Hi, my specs are 64GB SSD, 4GB RAM and Intel Atom E3827 Dual Core @ 1.74. There are 3 settings in misc I need help with:

Swap file - Add a 2 GB swap file to the system
/var RAM disk - Use memory file system for /var
/tmp RAM disk - Use memory file system for /tmp

I am uncertain if I should enable the above. I simply do not know enough of linux-stuff to decide. Any help will be appreciated.

Putting /var in ramdisk would save disk writes and performs better, but you don't need this with a SSD.
Same to tmp .. you don't need it :)

The memory use for those two are interesting if you run from a SD card.
Swap could be interesting if you use services that potentially take up a lot of RAM.
