OPNsense is reporting this bug. According to this site:
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=232360
This arises because the version of freebsd used by opnsense (v11.1) is no longer supported.
-
This is a misconception, potentially arising from misconfiguration.
Are you using the FreeBSD repository on OPNsense?
We have our own repository and it works fine despite what FreeBSD 11.1 EoL is for FreeBSD. :)

Yes, I am using your repositories.

What's your output of
# pkg info vim-console
Cheers,
Franco
-
pkg: No package(s) matching vim-console
-
Whatever is installed, it's incorrect and not from us.
# pkg install vim-console
And you'll be happy. :)

Thanks for your help. That is interesting. The only thing that I installed external to opnsense is a UniFi controller
for freebsd. That has been giving me problems, so I have decided to uninstall it, and run the controller from a raspberry pi instead.
Hopefully that fixes everything. I just uninstalled the controller, ran your instructions to install vim-console, and rebooted to be sure.
It no longer throws the error from before. It seems to be working now, but previously it needed some time to show errors on the tablet. If that happens, I will post again, but it seems OK now. Thanks again!

Ah sorry, I mistakenly thought this was about vim since you posted the FreeBSD bug report.

This simply doesn't work at the moment.
