Title: Multi-WAN Load Balancing (Gateway grouping) with 2 same Gateway addresses
Post by: MadDogDean on October 28, 2018, 05:55:46 pm
Hello all,

Exploring OPNsense as a replacement to our pfSense install on a Watchguard XTM 505.

One of the issues we have here with our WISP (our 2 internet accounts are delivered via 2 Motorola Canopy radios at a blazing 1.1 Mbps down) is that all accounts get issued with the SAME Gateway address. No matter how much we beg, plead, shout and carry-on, this is, according to our WISP, "Unchangeable".

This is an issue on our pfSense as we cannot use 2 WAN with same Gateways so we end up running one WAN through the pfSense and the other is a direct login for admin (read "my") own use.

I would like to consolidate these 2 accounts into one box without needing another NATted router in between.

Is this possible?

Cheers,
MadDogDean

Hi MadDogDean,

As fas as I'm aware this is a FreeBSD issue as long as only one routing table is used. Multiple routing tables are not enabled in FreeBSD by default so we will not support this for concerns over maintenance efforts and bugs of a practically unused implementation.

Cheers,
