What is opnsenses support for SIP like compared to pfSense?
I currently run pfSense and behind it I have several test IP PBXs. Each system has SIP trunks registered to it and they work fine.
My issue is if I try to register a local SIP phone to a remote hosted PBX I get issues with audio. Some times it's one-way other times no audio when a call has been transferred.
Would I expect to have the same issues with opnsenses ?

This can be done with siproxd, configuration always depends on the registrar.

I gather siproxd is a SIP proxy, every time I've look at SIP proxy's they have caused issues.
My main concern is I have multiple local IP PBX's all who have SIP trunks from upto 5 different providers.
As needs change I move the SIP trunks between the different PBX's and update the firewall rules to route the correct SIP trunk to the correct PBX. This all works with out any issue.. Would sipproxd affect any of that ?
The only issue I have is with One SIP phone registering to a hosted PBX.
My network is fronted by a pfSense firewall as it the remote network. I can't make any changes to the remote network and I do know other users who have no issues with SIP Phones connected to it. So this make me think the issue is my end. (pfSense)
Would siproxd help with that ? Could someone advise how I would need to set this up ?
I do have one other alternative.. I have a IPSEC VPN configured within pfSense joining me to the remote network. I can register the phone on the internal network, but I still get the same issue with one way audio.
I'm happy to swap to opnsense if that will make things easier.

You can do your Trunk routing without siproxd and just use it for the phones connecting directly. Just add the registrar in siproxd and connect your phones to siproxd.
