As a former pfSense user, I still visit the site from time to time, to see whats new, whats broken etc.
PFsense forum now has a new website.....
I think the Web Developer is on Drugs!
Another reason to migrate to Opnsense.
When I'm reading about GDPR compliance I'm a bit afraid .. now this forum needs a function to let the user see/download all saved content from him/her. If it's not possible to do this for the user on his own, the hoster has to do this ;)
And this is only one aspect from GDPR ::)
@mimugmail: you can open your user page to see all your posts. All your other data should be available in the same section (forum profile, account settings).
What is probably harder is how deleted accounts are handled. As far as I know the posts will stay in the forum but the name etc. will be deleted. So what happens to PII in posts?
I guess the mod would need to go through them all and delete them individually if so requested.

Bad idea as I am a moderator ;)
Today is a good day to delete an account and start with a new one :P
What? Here or there? ;)
I think the new forum is not necessarily bad. But the presentation of the subcategories on the overview page is a bit confusing.
More than a bit. 8)
Oh dear, now the server has crashed.... 500 Internal server error...
Strange, pfSense used to do the same thing - maybe it's a feature.
I get
QuoteInternal Error. Oops! Looks like something went wrong!
No kidding.
I'm not a fan of the new forum either.
Geez always that bashing... *sigh*
Personally I don't find the new forums bad or bad to use, on the contrary. Writing is much faster for me (Markdown FTW and no bbcode anymore) and autoscrolling threads and topics as well as a functional mobile view are plus points.
Also as I understand GDPR or the DSGVO, it is not only about "giving the user access to its information" but to let him/her _download_ that information. That's only one of multiple points, that SMF isn't (easily) capable of. I'm able to download any posts, topics, attachements and other things I upload to NodeBB with that GDPR compliance profile. SMF? Not so much. Yes, I can see/review it, but not download and save it as "my data". That's the cause they mentioned not being GDPR compliant. So before you are "slandering" other forums for the fun of it (or just because you maybe dislike the project) I'd advise to check a few things out first. :)
There are other things of the themes/skins that have to get better, but they are actively working on it. And hey, after years of next to nothing changing at the forum level, I for myself find it refreshing. And the chat feature is a nice touch, too.
I'm not bashing, I just do not like it...
I personally think it looks like something from 'My Little Pony', I am well aware of the skins and other features and have already adjusted to them to what suits me.
As I said, I don't like it, but each to their own.
Exactly. To each their own. But I've posted my thoughts that could be made better to the Feedback. Did you? Myself I'd go for a more solarized palette (and a corresponding solarized dark theme). But the general layout and usability have gone up miles from SMF usage.
I haven't posted anything on that project in six months and I won't be doing so. I have a fundamental objection to the way it's run and the direction it seems to be taking.
Time to let this go. We have work to do. :)
Cheers,
Franco
Yes boss. 8)
