Title: WAN IP and the gateway IP are different
Post by: mr_mcbride on August 10, 2026, 06:02:58 PM
OPNsense v26.7.1_1_amd64 running on a protectli vp2430.

WAN interface is set to DHCP. When I goto Interfaces -> Overview, the WAN IP and the Gateway IP are different. Both are public IPs and both are IPs are from the same subnet, 75.x.x.x. Is this normal?

I am troubleshooting a port forwarding issue and I'm wondering if the two separate IPs are a contributing factor.

Yes - the gateway is an upstream router that is your next hop to "the internet", presumably belonging to your ISP.
