Title: multiple vlans
Post by: little_rich on February 12, 2026, 12:29:12 PM
Hi,
I have a installed ver26.1.2 as a fresh install with very little configuration done so far.

I have small diskless fanless pc with 6 NIC's on it which has hosted OPNsense for years.
igc0 is the WAN interface to the internet and works okay.
igc1 appears as a LAN interface and has a DHCP range assigned to it.

What I am trying to do is introduce further VLAN's connected to the physical igc1 interface and have their own DHCP ranges associated.
In Interfaces -> Devices -> VLAN I have created vlan01 vlan02 through to vlan05 (device name assigned by OPNsense as you tube suggests) all with a parent of igc1

When I go to Interfaces -> Assignments in the lower half of the screen from the drop down box I can select vlan01 and then give it a name (which matches what I called it in devices) but when I press Save it simply does not appear in the top half of the screen.

I have looked at lots of you tube OPNsense VLAN videos and while it is slightly different in version 26 I can't see what I am doing wrong.

When I look at Interfaces -> Overview I can see vlan01 through to vlan05 showing as Unassigned interfaces and hovering the mouse over the status (which is green) it says disabled and hence can not be edited.

Any suggestions please?
Thanks for reading
Richard

Click on the tiny + first.

@Patrick,
Thanks for your reply.
I have tried that and it is not clickable.

Have also tried the root user and an additional user I made in 2 different flavours of browser. It will not click.
I was expecting something from the little + as well.
Cheers
Richard
