Title: Newbie with some problems
Post by: sebird on February 11, 2026, 09:22:04 AM
Hi all,
I'm new with opnsense (26.1) and i'm trying to install it in my homelab.
I've followed some videos and tutorials but i'm still having 2 problems.

1) Impossible to NAT external port.

2) impossible to access my local dns using Nginx Proxy Manager. It worked with Dnsmasq DNS & DHCP but i don't had internet in the LAN. So now i'm using Kea dhcp.

I'm blocked since more than one week and don't have any ideas left... Thanks for your help!

Sebastien

Is your WAN interface an Ethernet network and are you texting from that network?

In that case you need to disable reply-to:

Firewall > Settings > Advanced > Disable reply-to

Hi Patrick, thank you for your answer.
My WAN interface is my internet connection connected to the provider box.
My LAN and WAN have the same network adress (192.168.1.xxx) is it a problem?
After your recommandation i was able ton ping correctly just 1 time my internal DNS.

You cannot have the same address on two interfaces. You cannot have addresses from the same network on two interfaces. You need to completely change one one of the networks, LAN is probably easier.
