I have just freshly installed Opnsense on a ProtectLi vault. I have gone through and assigned the correct interfaces in the opnsense software. Both my computer I am trying to access the GUI from and the software are set on 192.168.40.x IPs with the same subnet. When I enter the shell on opnsense to ping my PC it says that the host is down. And when I try to ping the GUI from my PC I get nothing. I dont know if this is a firewall issue or not. If it is, I have no idea how to fix it. I am at a loss and would appreciate any help.
I suggest you start with the default configuration:
- Install OPNsense, don't change anything.
- Connect your PC to LAN - which is the first, not the second interface in OPNsense.
- Set the PC to DHCP for IP.
The PC should get an IP address in the 192.168.1.0/24 network and you should be able to access the UI at https://192.168.1.1
Only start changing things once that works.
Okay I just reset everything to default and now it is making progress. I am able to get somewhere but it says "The HTTP_REFERER "https://forum.opnsense.org/" does not match the predefined settings. You can disable this check if needed under System: Settings: Administration."
Don't click on the link in my post but simply enter the URL into your browser's address bar ...
Solved. I have tried resetting it to default many times previously and nothing worked. But this time when I reset to default all my issues went away. I am just going to tell myself that you are a wizard and you cast a spell on my system. Thank you!
