Hi all,
First off, let's get this out of the way - I don't know what I`m doing!
I`m trying to upgrade my homelab setup, did a bit of Googling and OPNSense seemed to be the way to go.
I`ve bought a Draytek Vigor 167 modem as the TalkTalk provided modem/router doesn't seem to do bridge mode.
These 2 guides seem to help me setup the Draytek:-
https://www.draytek.co.uk/support/guides/kb-isp-talktalk#vigor-vdsl2-modems
https://help-centre.talktalk.co.uk/Broadband/Manage_my_network_and_devices/Set_up_a_non-TalkTalk_router
But I can't find anything specific to OPNSense.
Am I right in thinking that I need to set the OPNSense WAN interface to use VLAN101, and DHCP for it's IP config? because (assuming I`m doing it right!), it doesn't seem to work.
Any help appreciated.
Frank.
I've never until now seen VLANs for TT for contemporary FTTP services. I knew some business ones did.
Are you receiving a residential or business service? Is it FTTP or otherwise what is?
Edit: Rethinking what might also be needed to help.
If you have successfully setup your vigor to be your main router, then presumably you want then to have OPN as a router behind another router. Seems plausible for a homelab. If so, this might help https://homenetworkguy.com/how-to/use-opnsense-router-behind-another-router/
If you map the instruction in the original Draytek link (https://www.draytek.co.uk/support/guides/kb-isp-talktalk#vigor-vdsl2-modems) across to the fields given in section 2 of the device manual https://www.draytek.com/assets/online_manuals/pdf/DrayTek_UG_Vigor167_V1.4.pdf
I think you will be able to do what you are looking for.
