Title: Minor issue with DHCP relay service
Post by: Ted on August 21, 2025, 09:22:43 PM
Greetings,

Versions: OPNsense 25.7.1_1-amd64 / FreeBSD 14.3-RELEASE-p1 / OpenSSL 3.0.17

Recently, I was making some changes on my network, which included moving my DHCP server to another host.
I use my OPNsense device to route between VLANS, and to relay DHCP requests from VLANs to my DHCP server.
After I moved the DHCP server, I changed the settings for DHCP relay in the OPNsense device.

A few hours later, I was alerted to a problem.

According to the logs, the DHCP relay was still sending requests to the old server, even though it showed my change.
There didn't seem to be an easy way to restart the service from the GUI, so I rebooted the OPNsense device.
After that, the DHCP relay service started working correctly, so everything was sorted!

Thanks,
Ted
