Title: OPNSense 25.1.12 just... stops port forwarding?
Post by: psweeney on August 11, 2025, 01:40:20 AM
Hi all, I wonder if anyone else has run into this issue. I serve a couple of websites from a home server behind my OPNsense firewall, so I've got ports 443 and 80 forwarded to the server. Now, I recently upgraded to 25.1.11, and after that noticed that those specific ports just stopped forwarding. Days of debugging later, I've ruled out all other issues, and out of frustration, just restarted the firewall and everything started working.

You all know how this goes - three weeks later, the port forwards just stopped again, and once again, a restart got everthing moving again.

So, I'm stumped - how can I troubleshoot this?

Things I've tried so far:

- Checked the host system to make sure traffic is flowing, and yes, it's listening to traffic on ports 443, it's just not getting any connections from the router
- Checked the firewall logs for denied connections. I added logging to the revelant port forward rule, and the router is seeing the connection and claims it's forwarding the traffic, it's just that the server never gets the traffic from the router.
- Checked the config log, and in both cases the last config change was hours before the port forward stopped working.
