Hello everyone,
I'm pretty new to OPNsense so wanted to run this by you all to see if this is going to be a normal thing.
I installed and was running the current version (at the time), had everything working great and had installed a few plugins a a couple themes. I installed 25.7 when it was released and decided to actually get everything working the way I wanted. Set up a couple VLANs, added a certificate and made some tweaks to get better through put.
This morning I noticed that there was an update so I installed that. When it rebooted there were no errors, I still had internet DNS and DHCP was working but I noticed that the changes I had made to the dashboard were gone. Then I noticed all the changes I had made with certs, some plugins, VLANs and new interfaces were all gone.
Looking through the logs the last entries right after the reboot was to restore the first backup I ever made right after I originally installed OPNsense. So it's back to the drawing board getting everything working again. The backup I did right before the update restore or has all the old information in it.
This isn't a normal thing is it? Luckily it's a small home network and not my nation wide CDN network at work. :)
PD
No this isn't the norm. I have used OPNsense for many years without major issues. There is something weird with the upgrade this time around. Hopefully they can figure out what went wrong and caused a lot of failed upgrades this time around. I don't have anything special on my install. For the most part very vanilla with only dhcp reservations. I had to install 25.7 fresh and upgrade to 25.7.1 and then restore my config. I was lucky my system reverted back to allow me to make a backup which you should do before any upgrade.
