Title: System reports there is an update candidate AND packages are up to date?
Post by: topflight70 on August 04, 2025, 12:56:59 AM
Looking for some insight for something I'm seeing.  Not sure if this is an OPNsense issue or a BSD issue.  System was recently updated to latest 25.7.1_1 build.

When I do an additional 'Check for Updates' just to make sure everything did properly update, the system reports that there is 1 candidate for upgrades; but then a few lines later says that packages are up to date.  Everything does appear to be working properly, but any idea as to what could be causing the conflicting information? Any thoughts on how to investigate further?

Health audit would be more interesting IMO.

QuoteOutput shown here for diagnostic purposes. There is no general need for manual system intervention.

Just saying ;-)

True but it looks like the package database was trashed at some point given the very low "candidate" count.  This is "more normal" on my end:

Checking for upgrades (134 candidates): .......... done
Processing candidates (134 candidates): . done
Checking integrity... done (0 conflicting)
Your packages are up to date.
