Title: Automatic outbound NAT rule missing
Post by: andrzej8445 on July 30, 2025, 07:01:42 PM
Hi guys,

I have been trying for quite some time to switch from WAN DHCP to PPPoE for my HomeLab.
My internet provider allows me to use PPPoE sessions through their modem, so I won't have to use double NAT for my isolated homelab network.
Here is my PPPoE configuration:

The PPPoE session is working, although I don't know why, I had to change default GW from 10.24.1.7 to public IP provided with PPPoE manually.
I will have to purchase from my internet provider to make this IP static, otherwise it will not work permanently.

Everything worked, I even upgraded to the latest version of opnsense from 24.7 to 25.7.
But now I don't have an internet connection anymore, I tried waiting two days and each time I manually changed the public address to the current one, but nothing works.

Ploicy is set to default:

Default GW is correct:

And it seems to me that Automatic outbound NAT rule missing, I tried entering them manually, but it didn't help.

I hope I'm doing something wrong and it's not a bug, Could you help me guys?

Regards
Andrzej

I managed to solve this problem. I unnecessarily changed the default GW from 10.24.1.7 it should be like this.
I also had to uncheck "allow dns server list to be overridden by DHCP/PPP on WAN" because DNS was not working.
